Leighton Art Centre has a rich history as a place for creative expression and artistic endeavour. Situated on 80 acres of magnificent foothills landscape just 15 km southwest of Calgary, the Leighton Art Centre site features the historic home of renowned artist A.C. Leighton and his wife Barbara, an accomplished artist in her own right.

A.C.'s passion for the mountain landscapes of Alberta was matched by his wife Barbara's passion for the artist that resides in everyone, especially children. Barbara Leighton established a school and artist studios on the Leighton site in 1974, bringing art to life for thousands of people of all ages in the years that have followed. The Leighton Foundation exists to keep the legacy of the Leightons' alive by creating the resources to offer exceptional experiences to see, learn, and create art.  Recently declared a Provincial Historic Site this amazing centre is well worth the visit.
